About Zakopane
Zakopane, at about 800 m beneath the dramatic Tatra Mountains, is Poland's winter capital and best-known ski town. Its skiing spreads across several areas, above all Kasprowy Wierch, reached by cable car to about 1959 m for the country's highest and most snow-sure pistes and serious off-piste, plus the gentle Gubałówka and Nosal slopes nearer town. Around 20 km of varied pistes, ski schools, rentals, the famous Wielka Krokiew ski jump, a lively highlander town with restaurants and nightlife, make it a vibrant and scenic Central European destination.
