About Berchtesgaden

Berchtesgaden, a famous market town at about 570 m in the Bavarian Alps near Salzburg, is the gateway to the Jenner ski area above the emerald Königssee, plus smaller local hills such as Götschen and Rossfeld. A modern gondola climbs the Jenner to about 1800 m, opening sunny, scenic pistes with grand views of the Watzmann and the lake, suited to beginners and intermediates. Set within the Berchtesgaden National Park, the area combines skiing with spectacular scenery, ski schools, rentals, mountain restaurants and easy access to winter walking and tobogganing.
